 The Calmer
Life Program was funded
by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to compare two models of care for worry and anxiety
among older adults from underserved, low-income, and mostly minority communities.
Calmer Life is an innovative, person-centered model of care anchored
in evidence-based cognitive behavioral treatment with additional novel
components and cultural tailoring to meet the needs of underserved older
adults.
Calmer Life was compared to Enhanced Community Care, an intervention anchored in
standard community-based information and
resource counseling. Both
models produced positive outcomes and the developers are excited to bring program treatment materials to health care providers free of charge.
