 Empowering Our Veterans
New VA Website Gives Veterans the Tools to Make Informed Health Care Decisions
For many Veterans, deciding when,
where and how to receive health care is often one of the most complex and
challenging decisions about the entire health care process. Healthcare
performance, access or quality of care data, is very complicated, leaving many wondering
just what the best course of action is for them. Now, the Department of Veteran’s Affairs is
launching a new website with an Access
and Quality Tool to help Veterans make informed choices.
|
This tool will take highly
complex data and make it transparent to the highest number of Veterans. This is just one tool in the toolbox that VA
is introducing to restore Veterans trust and confidence. The new
online tool was developed to provide Veterans with easy to use data
related to;
- How long patients are waiting to be
seen in their VA
- How Veterans describe their experiences
scheduling primary and specialty care
- Timeliness of appointments for care
needed right away
This new website will be a work in progress as the VA continues to receive feedback from Veterans, employees, media, VSO’s and their congressional partners, to improve the site’s tools and capabilities. The VA’s goal is to continue to improve this tool to help ensure that the access and quality of care website is a Veteran-driven, Veteran-designed point of access for the services our Veterans deserve. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
You're Not Alone. VA Can Help.
Military Sexual Trauma (MST) related treatment is available at all VA medical facilities. All treatment for physical and mental health conditions related to experiences of MST is provided free of charge. Veterans may be eligible for free MST-related care even if they are not eligible for other VA services. No documentation of MST experiences is required. In addition, every VA healthcare system has an MST Coordinator who serves as a contact person for MST-related issues at the facility and can help Veterans access relevant VA services and programs.

Direct Scheduling in Optometry and Audiology
At the beginning of this year, VAAAHS began direct scheduling for your routine audiology and eye exams. This means that you can call the clinics directly without the need to visit your primary care physician. The program has been a great success!
To schedule your appointment, please call 734-769-7100 or 800-361-8387, then enter 55575 for eyeglasses exams or 55902 for your routine hearing aid exam.
