Due to the popularity of the VET TEC Pilot Program, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has experienced record-breaking enrollment numbers for fiscal year 2024, with over 600 enrollment certifications received since November 9, 2023. As present, the VET TEC program’s annual cap of $45 million is nearing exhaustion. VA will soon be unable to fund any new VET TEC students.
Effective close of business Friday November 17, 2023, all VET TEC Training Providers were asked to temporarily halt submitting new VET TEC enrollments while VA confirms how much funds remain available.
Future of the VET TEC program: The five-year VET TEC pilot program will expire on April 1, 2024. Legislation has been proposed to make VET TEC a permanent initiative, however, no legislation has yet been passed by Congress. Any changes or updates regarding the future of VET TEC will be published to the Veterans technology education courses website.
Students currently enrolled in VET TEC programs will continue training uninterrupted. Individuals with a VET TEC Certificate of Eligibility (COE) but not yet enrolled in a program have been notified of the funding pause and will be informed if funding reallocation occurs that will allow future enrollments this fiscal year.

Submit your quarter one hiring data
Employer Partners, please be sure to submit your employment hiring data for the first quarter of fiscal year 2024 to the VET TEC Employer Consortium team. Not only is this an important part of your responsibilities, but this information enables VA to share your VET TEC graduate hiring success stories with stakeholders, to include our Congressional partners, and emphasize your commitment to supporting the VET TEC program and Veteran hiring.
In addition to reporting the metrics, we hope that you will help us in telling the success stories of VET TEC graduates. We invite you to share with us the names and email addresses of the Veterans that you have hired for a possible future feature. We want to share their VET TEC success story and highlight your organization’s commitment to helping our Veterans find meaningful employment with the rest of the VET TEC community.
If you have a question about how to submit or need help, we can help you! Please email the VET TEC team to request assistance, today!
