Leadership Corner
Greetings GI Bill® Partners,
Today, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) commemorates the 79th anniversary of the GI Bill, a monumental milestone that highlights our commitment to serving and empowering our Veterans, Service members and their families. What began as an initiative to provide benefits for Service members returning from World War II has evolved since its establishment June 22, 1944, now offering benefits through an array of innovative education and training programs, scholarships and resources.
The GI Bill continues to provide beneficiaries with a means to pursue traditional higher education. However, it has also morphed over the years to provide beneficiaries with options that best fit their needs, career aspirations and their families’ futures.
VA is committed to continued investments and improvements to innovative programs that provide Veterans with the education and training they need to succeed in the civilian workforce. We know that the success of our beneficiaries is a result of your hard work and dedication to serve those who have served. Thank you for your continued efforts and input, which have helped to revolutionize the delivery of benefits to our beneficiaries.
We encourage you to continue sharing your feedback; it helps us to improve our processes. Be sure to continue submitting your good news stories, so that we can share with all our GI Bill partners—read below to find out how.
Respectfully,
Education Service

One million enrollment certifications submitted since Enrollment Manager opened!
Another milestone achieved: In only three short months since Enrollment Manager launched, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) surpassed one million enrollment certifications received. Your dedication with learning how to use Enrollment Manager and providing feedback has not only led to a more user-friendly system for you and your fellow SCOs, but ultimately in GI Bill students receiving faster benefits they need to succeed in their educational journey. Thank you for all the hard work you do day in and day out as SCOs! Celebrate the millionth certification with us by liking, commenting and sharing this post on the GI Bill Facebook page.

No more paper enrollments starting on July 1, 2023
All enrollments must be certified and submitted through Enrollment Manager starting on July 1, 2023. If you currently submit paper or PDF enrollment certifications, please begin to familiarize yourself with submitting enrollments in the new system. Submitting enrollment certifications through Enrollment Manager will decrease manual processes, enhance student data protection and improve the delivery time for benefits payments. Need more information on logging in and completing actions in Enrollment Manager? Check out the User Guide for step-by-step directions.

Remind students to verify for summer classes
If you have students enrolled in courses or training during the summer, please remind them to verify their enrollment to continue receiving their Monthly Housing Allowance and/or kicker payments. Depending on their opt-in method, students will receive a text or email from VA asking them if they are still enrolled in their courses during the summer. If they are not opted into text or email verification, students can now use online verification or submit their verification using Ask VA. If students are interested in learning more, please encourage them to visit the Enrollment Verification webpage.
