Dear School Certifying Official,
Thank you for participating in our May Office Hours where we reviewed and discussed the impacts of the Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020. This new law brings over 30 changes to Veterans’ education benefits, many of which will enhance and expand education benefits for Veterans, Service members, families and survivors and provide the improvement and/or expansion of various GI Bill® programs. We hope the presentation was informative and that we were able to answer your questions about the new law’s education provisions.
During the Office Hours sessions, we referenced resources created to communicate Isakson and Roe impacts effectively. Below you will see a summary of helpful resources related to the Office Hours and your questions:
COVID-19 Provisions Communications Toolkit
Many of you expressed how helpful it is to have pre-written materials to easily share with your GI Bill students. We created the COVID-19 Communications Toolkit to help you communicate COVID-19 provision implications to students, using scenario-based examples and easy-to-understand summaries. We encourage you to reach out to students and share the Isakson and Roe COVID-19 One Pager with them. You can find pre-drafted language for social, email and newsletters in the COVID-19 Communications Toolkit for your use.

COVID-19 FAQs for SCOs and Students
Updated COVID-19 FAQs for GI Bill Students and SCOs address questions around recently passed legislation, including the Isakson and Roe. Here you can find answers to questions around Isakson and Roe provisions related to COVID-19.
