Greetings GI Bill Students,
As you may be aware, special COVID-19 rules impacting your Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits have been extended to December 21, 2021. To help you better understand these rules, we have updated the COVID-19 FAQs on VA.gov. Here, you can find answers to many of your questions related to COVID-19’s impact on your GI Bill benefits. Among other things, these rules mean that if you pursue resident (physically in person) courses that were converted to online solely due to COVID-19 at a rate of pursuit that is more than 50%, you will continue to receive the Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) rate for resident training.
As you plan for the next school term we understand that, for many, the “new normal” does not feel normal at all. That is why we are pleased to share the COVID Coach app, designed to help both Veterans and civilians cope with feelings of stress and anxiety they may be experiencing during COVID-19. To download the app, visit the VA Mobile App Store where it’s available for iPhone and Android devices. For Android, search “covidcoach” (no space).
We were able to work with Congress to pass these rules in only two weeks as a direct result of your feedback. We are committed to helping you and your families during this time. If you have school-specific questions related to enrollment or classes, please contact your SCO or call our Education Call Center at 888-442-4551.
Respectfully,
Education Service
