Measuring Engagement Potential Using the Employee Engagement Index

  You, like many others in VA, are likely very excited about the Secretary’s recent announcement that VA will have one combined survey starting this year, using the best of the VA All Employee Survey (AES) and the Federal Employment Viewpoint Survey (FEVS). However, you may also be wondering “how will this impact our ability to measure employee engagement?” Never fear!  The combined AES contains the FEVS Employee Engagement Index (EEI).  Let’s take a closer look at that metric.

Developed in 2010 by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the EEI measures workforce engagement potential. Guided by the EEI, it is possible to refocus attention and reprioritize specific management practices that are likely to improve workplace conditions. (Click to continue reading)


Coming Summer 2018 an Engagement Survey Merger: AES + FEVS

For all VA Employees

What’s changing with the merger?

Where there were two nationally-administered employee surveys, there will now be just one!  The All Employee Survey (AES) and Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) will be administered to all VA employees as one combined survey instrument beginning in Summer 2018.  The combined survey will maintain the AES title.

AES Dashboard Training Videos Now Available!

The AES Dashboard training videos help orient VA employees to the AES Dashboard for easy access to AES data and specific action planning tools action/strategies.  Whether downloading the Dashboard for the first time, or if one wants support after the fact, the videos walk employees through the various features of the Dashboard.  You will see six recorded videos along with transcripts.  The six brief videos cover an overview of the dashboard, each of the four roles, and how to pull data from the ‘Data Menu’ tab. 

The AES Dashboard provides data and guidance on how to use AES data for four different employee roles (Executive Leaders, Mid-Level Managers, Frontline Supervisors, and Frontline Employees).  The Dashboard contains a separate area for each employee group.  It also includes quick access to other data tools such as the Best Places to Work map, AES Snapshots, Composite Crosswalks, and Current/Change Year Workgroup Grids (as well as links to the VA Workforce Surveys Portal and the AES Help Desk).
