The 2018 National Veterans Creative Arts Competition began January 1. During the months of January, February and March, Veterans enrolled at VA medical facilities or outpatient clinics are invited to enter their art, music, dance, drama and creative writing entries into the local competition phase.  It’s an exciting time with art exhibits and performances by Veterans occurring across the country. After reporting her sexual assault, a now-retired lieutenant colonel with the West Virginia Army National Guard was retaliated against by a brigadier general, the Defense Department’s inspector general said in a new report.  This is the first time the DoD IG has ever substantiated an allegation of reprisal for reporting a sexual assault, the IG's office confirmed to Military Times. Trump signed an executive order titled, “Supporting Our Veterans During Their Transition From Uniformed Service to Civilian Life.”  This executive order directs the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security to develop a plan to ensure that all new Veterans receive mental health care for at least one year following their separation from service.
