On September 11, 2001, four planes crashed on the east coast.  Two planes flew into the World Trade Center.  One plane skipped off of the ground before hitting the Pentagon.  The last plane crashed in an open field in Pennsylvania. [From VAntage Point]

In addition, approximately $3 million in grant funding will be awarded to 13 community agencies that provide services for homeless Veterans with special needs.  The Grant and Per Diem Special Need funding provides additional operational costs for transitional housing and services for homeless Veterans who fall under “special need” populations, including women, those with chronic mental illness and individuals who care for minor dependents. VA has unveiled our new Decision Ready Claims (DRC) initiative   just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to delivering faster claims decisions for Veterans.  Veterans who submit their claim under DRC with accredited Veterans service organizations (VSO) can expect to receive a decision within 30 days from the time VA receives the claim. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) gives notice under the Federal Advisory Committee Act that the Advisory Committee on Women Veterans (Committee) will conduct a site visit on September 18-22, 2016, in Muskogee, OK.  Sessions are open to the public, except when the Committee is conducting tours of VA facilities, participating in off-site events, and participating in workgroup sessions.  Tours of VA facilities are closed, to protect Veterans’ privacy and personal information.  The site visit will also include a town hall meeting for women Veterans and those who provide services to women Veterans. About 38 years ago, a recruiter from the American Legion came to Army Veteran Denise Rohan’s door in Marshall, wanting to speak to her husband, who was also a Veteran.  Rohan, who now lives in Verona with her husband, Mike, told the recruiter she was also eligible for Legion membership [From Wisconsin State Journal]
