Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen and President Bill Clinton to Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the CDFI Fund

President Clinton signed the bipartisan Community Development Banking and Financial Institutions Act into law in 1994

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, November 21 at 12:00 PM, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen and President Bill Clinton will deliver remarks to mark the 30th  anniversary of the establishment of the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund. During their remarks, Secretary Yellen and President Clinton will discuss the impact of CDFIs over the last 30 years in providing capital to small businesses and other entities in low-income, rural, and other underserved communities.

Secretary Yellen served in the White House during the Clinton Administration as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors, and President Clinton signed the bipartisan CDFI Act into law in 1994, which established the CDFI Fund. Since its inception, the CDFI Fund has had a significant impact on communities nationwide – every dollar the CDFI Fund invests is estimated to catalyze at least eight dollars in private-sector investment, magnifying its impact.
