Taking a Whole Candidate Approach to Improve Our          Foreign Service Officer Talent Search!

The U.S. Department of State continues to modernize its hiring process to create a more inclusive workforce that hires the best talent and represents America's rich diversity.

Beginning with the June 2022 test, which is open for application from April 25-June 2, the process for evaluating candidates to become Foreign Service Officers will end the use of the Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT) as a single gateway to applying. Instead, everyone who applies and completes the FSOT will move forward to the Qualifications Evaluation Panel (QEP), when a panel will review the full application package for eligible candidates. The full application package includes a candidate's completed application, Personal Narratives (PNs), FSOT score, and FSOT essays.  Successful QEP candidates will receive an invitation to the Foreign Service Oral Assessment (FSOA).

Apply for the FSOT today!

We appreciate your interest in becoming a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State.
