Social Security and the Ticket to Work Program would like to share two webinars hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) that may be of interest to service providers and Employment Networks (EN).
Understanding Ticket to Work – April 24, 2024, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. ET
The DOL Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) hosts the National Employment First Community of Practice (CoP) Webinar Series to augment the technical assistance areas of Employment First systems change (Capacity Building, Provider Transformation, School-to-Work Transition, Employer Engagement, and Policy/Funding Alignment). CoP participants benefit from national subject matter experts presenting information and resources to support Employment First efforts.
On April 24, 2024, 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET, the Employment First CoP Webinar Series will review the Ticket to Work (Ticket) Program. Specific webinar objectives include:
- Learning about the main components of Ticket Program, who can benefit from this program, and how it supports people with disabilities who want to work.
- Understanding the Ticket process and learn the role Administrative Employment Networks and Benefits Counselors play in lessening the bureaucratic burden for providers and workers.
- Learning how to use the Ticket Program to support robust competitive integrated employment practices.
- Hearing from a representative payee organization about their experiences in ensuring workers and job seekers have full access to their Ticket Program benefits.

Improving Employment Outcomes: The Critical Role of Financial Education – April 29, 2024, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. ET
The National Center on Leadership for the Employment and Economic Advancement of People with Disabilities (LEAD), a DOL Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) policy development center, will host the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) on April 29, 2024, 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET for Improving Employment Outcomes: The Critical Role of Financial Education.
During this presentation, NAWDP will share findings from a recent study on the financial service needs of the workforce system. Workforce professionals will explain how they support job seekers with disabilities through financial education. Webinar participants will also learn how the Secure Your Financial Future Toolkit provides job seekers and workforce professionals with resources, tools and financial engagement approaches. Finally, an individual with a disability will describe how they benefitted from employment and financial education services within the workforce system, which resulted in a successful transition off public benefits.
