Announcement: 2015 Red Book Now Available
Social Security Administration sent this bulletin at 02/16/2015 09:30 AM ESTThe Operations Support Manager is excited to announce that the 2015 Social Security Red Book is now available. The Red Book is a reference tool that provides a general description of Social Security’s disability-related policies and a working knowledge of Social Security’s employment support provisions, commonly referred to as Work Incentives. Work Incentives are available to recipients of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to help them work while protecting entitlement to monthly cash benefits, Medicare and Medicaid. Work Incentives allow beneficiaries to remain in control of their finances and health care during their transition to work and financial self-support.
The Red Book also contains information on the 2015 earnings levels used for Trial Work Level earnings and Substantial Gainful Activity, the 2015 SSI federal benefit rate, information on how to contact the Social Security Administration, basic information on how eligibility for disability benefits is determined, key information about the SSDI and SSI programs, an overview of a beneficiary’s responsibilities upon entering the workforce, definitions of key terms, information on where to get additional information on Work Incentives and where beneficiaries can get individualized assistance in determine how work and earnings are likely to impact their disability benefits, case examples, and much more.
The Red Book, which is written primarily for educators, advocates, rehabilitation professionals, and counselors who serve individuals with disabilities, is a resource that staff at every Employment Network and State Vocational Rehabilitation agency should have at their finger tips.
