The You Can Work series spotlights the achievements of job seekers with disabilities who found their path to a better future with help from Social Security’s Ticket to Work program. This month we are happy to introduce Success Story participant Megan Riggs, a young adult we first met in 2011. Megan continues to share the experiences of her journey including her new career as an entrepreneur.

In 2008, clinical depression robbed Megan of the energy and momentum that she needed to thrive. After assigning her Ticket to an Employment Network, she received benefits counseling and help finding a job in 2011. Two years later, she found herself unemployed after being laid off. Fortunately, Social Security’s Work Incentives helped her get back on benefits while she reconnected with her EN to decide her next move. That move turned out to be starting a business as a Zumba instructor. A dance enthusiast, she worked with her EN to develop a business plan so she could start making money. Now she shares her story about using Ticket to Work and Work Incentives to pursue financial independence.
