Reminder: Clarifications about Registering with the System for Award Management (SAM)
Social Security Administration sent this bulletin at 03/26/2013 04:30 PM EDTEmployment Networks (EN) are reminded to register with the Federal Government’s System for Award Management (SAM).
The SAM is the primary registrant database for all Federal Government contractors, having replaced the former Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA).
All ENs must register their Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number, enter their banking information, and complete their representations and certifications in SAM. Also, you are responsible for the yearly updates of your SAM registration. It is essential that your SAM registration be current and accurate to insure timely payment.
Please use only the SAM.gov website to register and update the SAM. If you Google SAM, you may encounter another website (https://www.uscontractorregistration.com/online-registration) that appears to be an official government website. However, this is a commercial vendor that offers an array of services to government contractors for a fee of up to $599. You should avoid this website. Remember, the official www.SAM.gov website is free. Use only this website when registering/updating the SAM.
