Our new success story details Hazel’s journey to full-time work and how Social Security’s Ticket to Work (Ticket) Program helped her find her path to a better future.
In 2010, Hazel was hospitalized and diagnosed with multiple mental illnesses. In 2013, after years of struggling to find the right treatment, Hazel found mental health professionals who helped her manage her disorders. These professionals continue to be part of Hazel’s support team and play a vital role in helping her maintain wellness.
With the help of a counselor at Alaska's American Job Center, Hazel learned about the Ticket Program and other Work Incentives that would give her time to determine how full-time employment would work for her. Learn how Hazel found the support she needed to prepare for, find and maintain employment while managing mental illness. We encourage you to share her story with your clients to show the long-term benefits that work can have on their lives and on their mental health.
