Retention of VR Cost Reimbursement Claims Documentation
Social Security Administration sent this bulletin at 03/06/2020 09:31 AM ESTWe have recently become aware that supporting documentation for some Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Cost Reimbursement (CR) claims is being destroyed prematurely.
To ensure the availability of claims documentation for auditing and post-payment quality control purposes, all CR payment-related documentation should be retained for a minimum of six years after the close of the federal fiscal year in which payment was made. This follows the General Records Schedule (GRS) for Federal Records Management. This information will be added to the VR Providers Handbook.
