Reminder: National Virtual Job Fair is 8/24/16
Social Security Administration sent this bulletin at 07/21/2016 09:17 AM EDTThe next virtual job fair will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET. This is a national event, so participating employers will have jobs throughout the United States.
To make the Job Fair a success, we are relying on Employment Networks (ENs) and state Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies to promote the event to beneficiaries who are ready for work. To participate, a beneficiary must:
- Be age 18 through 64 and receive Social Security disability benefits
- Have assigned his or her Ticket to an approved Ticket to Work service provider (an EN or state VR agency)
- Be ready for immediate work
To register:
First, the beneficiary needs to complete the consent form and submit it to you to keep on file. You can find the form at www.choosework.net/vjfconsent.
Second, the beneficiary must register. There are two ways to do that:
- You, as the service provider, can register the beneficiary at https://vts.inxpo.com/Launch/QReg.htm?ShowKey=32842 or
- You can give the link to the beneficiary and he or she can register independently. (If the beneficiary registers independently, please ask him or her not to share the link with anyone else.)
For beneficiaries to participate in the August event, they must have a signed Virtual Job Fair consent form on file in your office. In addition, even if they participated in a past Virtual Job Fair, they will need to register and sign a new consent form.
By signing the consent form, the beneficiary agrees that Social Security may share his or her resume, Virtual Job Fair profile, and any other information that the beneficiary discloses in connection with the Job Fair. This includes chat sessions with other participants in the Job Fair, such as potential employers.
We will also provide the registration link and consent form directly to beneficiaries via our general outreach messages to them. This should make it easier for beneficiaries to register on their own. Because service providers have the most direct contact with job-ready candidates, we’re relying on you to spread the word, as well! In order to help you better prepare your beneficiaries for the event, we will notify you by e-mail when anyone currently assigned to your organization registers. Finally, we will offer optional (but highly recommended!) training for service providers on the topic of beneficiary preparation. More information and dates will follow.
