Nominations for 2023 awards are open until December 8, 2022!

Do you or someone you know have what it takes to become America’s “Small Business Person of the Year” for 2023? Know someone who’s been a huge supporter of small business owners? If so, the U.S. Small Business Administration wants to hear from you.

The SBA is proud to announce it is accepting nominations for 2023 National Small Business Week Awards (NSBW), including the annual National Small Business Person of the Year award and Minnesota District specific awards.

Deadline to submit is December 8, 2022 at 2pm CT. Nominations must be submitted electronically via the District’s BOX account. Winners will be honored during the National Small Business Week.


Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month

Join us virtually on Thursday, October 6, 2022
from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (CDT)  

In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the U.S. Small Business Administration will host a live webinar panel discussion.

The discussion will focus on financial wellness and the importance of equity and opportunity to help uplift and support Hispanic-owned small businesses across the country. The panel will also discuss SBA initiatives and resources that support startups seeking to launch and existing small businesses as they pivot and grow in a changing environment. Providing emerging small businesses with the needed tools to help local economies thrive is a priority of the Biden-Harris Administration and SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman.

Join the SBA in person on Wednesday October 4th, where The Travelers Institute for Cyber will host: Prepare, Prevent, Mitigate, Restore®, an educational symposium helping businesses and organizations tackle evolving cyber threats. As part of a national series, industry leaders from the public and private sectors will share insights into the current threat landscape and strategies to help prepare for and respond to a cyber incident. Cyber Security Summit

The 12th Annual Cyber Security Summit takes place October 24-26, 2022 and is offered as a hybrid event in Minneapolis, MN and online. 

This year’s theme Eyes Wide Open laser focuses our cyber professional lens with a view on the complex global landscape we are collectively facing as an industry at its highest and most granular level. From pandemics, a war in Europe, ransomware attacks, hacktivism, worker and food shortages and supply chain constraints (the list goes on). More than ever cybersecurity leaders and practitioners need to stay ahead of the game and be constantly on alert, or “Eyes Wide Open”. 18th Annual Greater MN Government Procurement Fair 

Join us on Tuesday October 25th, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Department of Administration’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) and Small and Disadvantaged Business Opportunities Council (SADBOC) are excited to offer the 18th Annual Greater MN Government Procurement Fair as an in-person event after two years of virtual offerings.

A premiere event on selling products and services to the government. Small businesses interested in doing business with government agencies and prime contractors are encouraged to attend. The fair will provide an opportunity for small businesses to learn about special programs designed to provide better access to the government marketplace. A trade show will be open throughout the day in addition to a variety of workshops including Basics of Selling to the Government, HUBZone Certification, Cybersecurity, etc. You will have 8 workshops in 2 tracks to choose from, along with the opportunity to visit with 20+ representatives from State & Federal Government Agencies, Large Businesses, and Resource Providers on the trade floor. The event is free and open to all businesses - registration is required.
