Michigan Small Business Forum - Work Opportunity Tax Credit

Join the SBA, IRS and the State of Michigan to learn about the Work Opportunity Credit (WOTC), a federal tax credit available to employers for hiring individuals from certain targeted groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment, the State of Michigan certification process and how to claim the WOTC on your federal income tax return.

Targeted Groups:

  • the formerly incarcerated or those previously convicted of a felony;
  • recipients of state assistance under part A of title IV of the Social Security Act (SSA);
  • veterans;
  • residents in areas designated as empowerment zones or rural renewal counties;
  • individuals referred to an employer following completion of a rehabilitation plan or program;
  • individuals whose families are recipients of supplemental nutrition assistance under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008;
  • recipients of supplemental security income benefits under title XVI of the SSA;
  • individuals whose families are recipients of state assistance under part A of title IV of the SSA; and individuals experiencing long-term unemployment

  • Set up your business on Google
  • Discuss a bookkeeping process
  • Talk with an attorney from DeYampert and Hawkins Law PLLC
  • Talk to a Lender from Lake Trust and CEED Lending to discuss possible funding options
  • Talk to an Insurance Agent

We’ll also have several community partners attending to discuss how they support small businesses in our area.

There is No Cost to attend this event.
