Join the U.S. Small Business Administration for a virtual armchair discussion to celebrate Rural Entrepreneurship!

The discussion will focus on the importance of financial wellness, creating generational wealth through business ownership, and increasing equity and access to opportunities to help uplift and support Rural-owned small businesses. The panel will also discuss SBA initiatives and resources that support small business recovery, new Rural startups seeking to launch, and existing Rural-owned small businesses as they pivot and grow in a post-COVID world, a priority of the Biden-Harris Administration and SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman.

New Bills for prosecuting PPP and EIDL fraud

Consistent with new efforts to bring bad actors to account for their fraudulent acts, SBA commends the two new bills signed by the President. The bills expands the statute of limitations on EIDL and PPP fraud to 10 years. Read the statement by SBA Administrator Guzman here.

U.S. Department of Commerce Announces Winners of American Rescue Plan $500 Million Good Jobs Challenge to Expand Employment Opportunities

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced grant awards to 32 industry-led workforce training partnerships across the country as part of the $500 million Good Jobs Challenge funded by President Biden’s American Rescue Plan.

These projects will expand access to the workforce and increase labor participation through a focus on job quality and equity. The projects will serve and support a broad range of individuals from underserved populations across the country in urban and rural areas, including members of Latino, African American, Indigenous, Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, as well as women, the formerly incarcerated, and those recovering from substance abuse disorders. The small business procurement scorecard is out! In FY21, the federal government exceeded its small business contracting goal, awarding 27.2%, or $154.2 Billion, in federal contract dollars to small businesses, a new record!

The SBA’s role in contracting

The SBA works with federal agencies in order to award 23 percent of prime government contract dollars to eligible small businesses. The SBA is responsible for ensuring the government-wide goal for participation of small businesses is established annually at the statutory levels, and that the reporting agencies' achievements are relative to the goals.
