The U.S. Small Business Administration announces Jordan Kotowski, Owner, Abe’s Hot Dogs, located in Mountain Top, is the recipient of its Eastern Pennsylvania Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2022.  Media are invited to attend.

WHEN:   May 11 at 4:00 p.m.

WHERE: 315 South Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top

Jordan purchased Abe’s Hot Dogs shortly after graduating Crestwood High School, four years ago. Abe’s Hot Dogs is a restaurant serving fast American food such as hot dogs, burgers, fries, sandwiches, and hoagies.

“I’m excited to celebrate Jordan’s achievements and the support he received from the Wilkes University Small Business Development Center to make his entrepreneurial dream a reality,” said Steve Dixel, SBA Eastern Pennsylvania District Director. “He is an entrepreneurial success and one of our youngest entrepreneurs who successfully purchased a small business, grew its sales, and was able to retain his six employees despite the pandemic with SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan.”

Jordan’s background is in customer service, and the Wilkes University SBDC helped him with his questions and concerns in the opening of a new business, assisted him with the state licensing requirements, supported his grand opening event, and informed him of COVID funds and programs to keep his restaurant open.  When COVID forced his business to temporarily close, he quickly pivoted and prepared all the inventory he had to donate it to frontline workers at three local clinics in Mountain Top, and to the Mountain Top first responders.

“Since Jordan took over the business, the customer base has grown immensely. He is a hardworking individual and it has been my honor to work with him over the years. His entrepreneurial spirit and his commitment to community make him a worthy award winner,” said Kristin Sassi, Consultant Manager, Wilkes University SBDC, who nominated the firm for the award.

Wilkes University's Small Business Development Center is a member of the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers’ statewide network and provides training, confidential consulting and market and industry research to help aspiring and existing small businesses make sound decisions for successful operations.

Having weathered the pandemic, Abe’s Hot Dogs is back on track to show more growth in 2022. He has invested in equipment assets and believes the key to a successful business is a happy customer. Over the years, Jordan has flourished in the Mountain Top community through his continuous generosity to local organizations and fundraisers.

“I believe my commitment to the community is paid back through their support of Abe’s Hot Dogs,” said Jordan Kotowski, Owner. “It’s incredible to be named SBA’s Eastern Pennsylvania Young Entrepreneur of the Year. I am thankful for the guidance and support received from Kristin at the Wilkes University SBDC, and of course the SBA PPP loan which enabled our restaurant to survive.”

Jordan demonstrates his commitment to his community by supporting local causes to the best of his ability. Since starting his business, he has supported American Cancer Society initiatives, Make-A-Wish events, the Mountain Top Little League, and the Mountain Top Food Bank. He is also a member of the Mountain Top Area Community Association.

SBA’s Eastern Pennsylvania Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner is selected annually from among nominees located across the 40 counties of eastern Pennsylvania.
