ISLAND BIZ

Our mission at HPIDO is to increase outreach to our District by sharing programs and resources for small businesses.  Valerie Kubota, our Outreach & Marketing Specialist, recently connected with Georgette Stevens, Outreach Manager at 'Ōlelo Community Media.  'Ōlelo’s mission is to strengthen our island voices and advance community engagement through innovative media.

They have an amazing complex in Mapunapuna which includes Honolulu’s newest full digital video and sound stage.  Also of interest is their Mini Studio.  The Mini Studio is an easy access service to help you create a thirty-minute program at any of their Media Service Centers (MSCs), even if you have no training. ‘Ōlelo staff will help you record a simple program that can be immediately submitted to air on ‘Ōlelo’s channels and ‘ŌleloNet.

Val and Georgette recorded a session entitled SBA Presents:  Intro to 'Ōlelo.  This soon-to-be-aired talk story program outlines how companies can use 'Ōlelo to tell stories about their business or organization, followed by a short segment on SBA programs and services.  Tune in on one of the following airdates to learn how you can share your experience and knowledge, as a subject matter expert in your industry, with our community!
