Learn how MWBE Certification and Contract Procurement can grow your business January 11th, 2022!
Join the Stony Brook SBDC and its strategic partners on January 11th for the launch of The Hispanic Business Strategies Initiative, a program that supports the economic mobility and sustainable growth of local Hispanic- and Latino-owned businesses. Through education and application assistance, participating businesses will pursue certification as a minority and/or women-owned business enterprise (MWBE) and guidance in leveraging the many benefits, including access to local, state and federal contacts. The Hispanic Business Strategies program seeks to aid in the success of existing businesses and spur further entrepreneurial activity.
While the workshops and application assistance will be primarily in Spanish, the program launch will be bilingual in English and Spanish. The program includes three phases of assistance: highlighting the opportunities and advantages of being a certified minority and/or women-owned business, followed by one-on-one assistance in the certification application. The program concludes with contract sourcing and bid proposal training on the best practices to obtain prime contractor or government contracts.
All businesses, whether or not they currently meet MWBE certification eligibility requirements, will receive free and confidential business advisement to develop or enhance their Business Model and will be invited to participate in educational workshops (English and Spanish) to increase business acumen and competencies for future eligibility.
