On December 7, 2021, The U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman announced plans the the SBA intend to elevate its Office of Women's Business Ownership to directly report to the Office of the Administrator.

33 years

NWBC Celebrates 33 Years

The National Women's Business Council celebrated 33 years on October 25th, 2021. H.R. 5050, the Women's Business Ownership Act was passed on October 25th, 1988. This act established NWBC in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act.  

NWBC hosted a Virtual Public Meeting on October 25th, 2021

This meeting allowed for the Council to present its initiatives and policy development. Each of the Council's subcommittees (Access to Capital & Opportunity, Women in S.T.E.M., and Rural Women's Entrepreneurship) presented their priorities and projects before the full body and the public.

ShopHER Grand Opening 

On December 1st, NWBC's Executive Director Tené Dolphin attended the grand opening for 'ShopHER' at Union Station in Washington, D.C. ShopHER is a collaboration by the DC Women's Business Center, the Maryland Women's Business Center, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Union Station. This pop-up will feature 15 small, women-owned businesses from the DC Metro area for people to shop from.
