Lender Match

SBA works with lenders to provide loans to small businesses. The agency doesn’t lend money directly to small business owners. Instead, it sets guidelines for loans made by its partnering lenders, community development organizations, and micro-lending institutions. SBA reduces risk for lenders and makes it easier for them to access capital. That makes it easier for small businesses to get loans.

Transfer of the Veteran Small Business Verification Program to the SBA

Previously, veteran-owned small businesses interested in being certified by the Federal Government received their certification through the VA. In order to streamline this process with all other small business certification programs, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2021 officially requested that CVE’s responsibilities be transferred to the SBA by January 1, 2023.

Program Purpose
The CVE program plays an essential role in creating opportunity for veteran-owned small businesses across the country. It ensures that veteran-owned small businesses (VOSB) and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSB) can compete for set-aside and sole source contracts through the VA. Eligible VOSBs and SDVOSBs must be verified before they can participate in the program.
