WOSB Certification Eligibility and Application Process Webinar

Thursday, October 14, 2021 3-4:00pm ET

SBA’s Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contracting Program oversees the process for Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSBs) and Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business certifications. This seminar session will give a general overview of the program, eligibility for the program, preparing to apply, completing and submitting an application. The session will also go over relevant issues and trends in the program and include a question and answer portion.

Save the date! The SBA will host an online panel discussion for Hispanic Heritage Month on October 14, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. ET. Additional details including the registration link will be available soon. 

SBA Administrator Guzman, the fourth Latina Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the highest-ranking Latina serving in President Biden’s Cabinet, also released a statement to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month.

Women In Networking Luncheon (Spearfish)

Join SD CEO WBC West for their Women In Networking (WIN) Luncheon on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at The Joy Center. Early networking starts at 11:30 AM.

Guest speaker is Ayesha Meer, Executive Director of the Spearfish Artemis House. Ayesha has a wide range of experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in gender justice, racial equity and education policy. She will be speaking on the current epidemic of violence against women and how leaders in our community can take action to prevent violence before it takes place.

Registration and payment by Thursday, October 14 at midnight is required. Seating is limited. We will not be accepting walk-ins.

South Dakota “FAST Launch” Program Kicks-off

The South Dakota “FAST Launch” program is designed to assist South Dakota entrepreneurs and small businesses with starting and growing their business through a focused training program culminating with Governor’s Giant Vision Competition and SBIR/STTR funding. Introductions to the program will be held at a series of regional meetings in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Aberdeen, Madison, Brookings, Vermillion and Mission.

Register Now for “FAST Launch” Boot Camp -    The South Dakota FAST Launch Business Boot Camp – a seven-hour crash course in starting a business — takes place virtually Saturday, Nov. 6, at 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT, detailing how to start and grow a business as well as develop and commercialize innovations.

Katherine Cota, director of economic development at Dakota State University, will be leading this intensive workshop that includes lean methodology, business model canvas, and other business processes. Anyone interested in starting a business, non-profit or internal organizational project – and anyone interested in growing their existing business – should attend this event.
