Tax Credits Webinar with the SBA and the IRS-Wednesday, June 23 at 10am

The American Rescue Plan extended a number of critical tax benefits for small businesses and this webinar will highlight the Employee Retention Tax Credit and the Paid Leave Tax Credit.

Join the Small Business Administration (SBA) New England Regional Office and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for an informative webinar on American Rescue Plan (ARP) tax benefits for small businesses.

Employee Retention Tax Credit

The American Rescue Plan extends the availability of the Employee Retention Credit for small businesses through December 2021 and allows businesses to offset their current payroll tax liabilities by up to $7,000 per employee per quarter. This credit of up to $28,000 per employee for 2021 is available to small businesses who have seen their revenues decline, or even been temporarily shuttered, due to COVID.

Paid Leave Tax Credit

The American Rescue Plan extends through September 2021 the availability of Paid Leave Credits for small and midsize businesses that offer paid leave to employees who may take leave due to illness, quarantine, or caregiving. Businesses can take dollar-for-dollar tax credits equal to wages of up to $5,000 if they offer paid leave to employees who are sick or quarantining. This credit now includes leave taken by employees to receive or recover from COVID-19 vaccinations. You could see these credits in your bottom line as soon as your next quarterly filing.

During this webinar, the SBA will provide a brief update on other COVID-19 Relief programs for small business.

Bring your questions, SBA and IRS will hold a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.

Presenters Include:

  • Amy K. Bassett, Acting Regional Administrator, SBA New England Regional Office
  • Joseph McCarthy, Senior Stakeholder Liaison, IRS
  • Invitation Extended to Region I Department of Labor

Your small business might be eligible to claim thousands of dollars in tax relief due to COVID related shutdowns and disruptions.

SBA Administrator Statement on Role of Small Businesses in Strengthening America’s Supply Chains

Today, U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Isabel Guzman issued the following statement in response to President’s 100 Day Review Report on America’s Supply Chains:

“The 100 Day Review report on America’s supply chains breaks new ground in recognizing that a resilient supply chain depends on all of our small businesses and innovative startups, including those owned by women, people of color, and others who have been historically left behind by federal R&D and investment policy and whose full potential we need to leverage if we are to build back better. The SBA looks forward to partnering across the federal government to strengthen domestic competitiveness and supply chain resilience by ensuring that every entrepreneur has equitable access to credit, investment, customers, and advisory services that are essential to scaling up to the challenge.”
