FWS Finalizes Critical Habitat for Northern Mexican Gartersnake

The Agriculture Marketing Service reopened the comment period on a proposed rule to amend the current Lamb Promotion, Research, and Information Order. The new deadline for comments is July 6, 2021.

USDA Reopens Comment Period on Proposed Rule to Amend Origin of Livestock Requirements for Organic Dairy Animals

The Agriculture Marketing Service reopened the comment period for a proposed rule that would amend origin of livestock requirements for dairy animals under existing organic regulations. Comments are now due by July 12, 2021.

EPA Announces Public Listening Sessions, Trainings on Upcoming Oil and Natural Gas Methane Rule

The Environmental Protection Agency has announced trainings and public listening sections on a rule to change the oil and gas sector emissions standards set by the Trump Administration. The trainings occur on May 26, 2021 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. The listening sessions run from June 15 to June 17 from 12:00pm to 9:00pm.

DOE Seeks Comments on Reviews of Energy Conservation Standards

The Department of Energy seeks comments on five current energy conservation standards. Energy is evaluating the impact of these standards on small entities, who are particularly encouraged to submit their feedback. Due dates for comments range from June 1, 2021 to July 6, 2021.

DOT Seeks Comments on Review of Existing Regulations

The Department of Transportation seeks comments on existing rules and agency actions regarding consistency with Executive Orders 13990 and 13992, which concern climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, economic recovery, and racial justice. Comments due June 4, 2021.

Labor Department Requests Wage Information for H-1B Visa Workers

The Department of Labor issued a request for information on the sources of data and methodologies determining prevailing wage levels covering employment opportunities that U.S. employers seek to fill with foreign workers on a permanent or temporary basis. Comments due June 1, 2021.

Advocacy Submits Comments on EPA’s Proposed Rule “Revisions to the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule for Public Water Systems”

On March 11, 2021, the Environmental Protection Agency published a proposed rule titled “Revisions to the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule for Public Water Systems.” Advocacy encourages EPA to revise the rule to conform to existing statutes and to eliminate duplicate sampling and analysis requirements already in place.

Advocacy Submits Comment Letter to Commerce to Extend the Comment Period on Securing the Information and Communications Technology and Services Supply Chain

On April 28, 2021, Advocacy wrote a letter encouraging the Department of Commerce to extend the public comment period on new cybersecurity regulations to allow small businesses and their representatives to participate.

The Environmental Protection Agency seeks comments on the proposed 2022 General Construction Permit. Specifically, EPA requests comment on whether permittees should be required to submit photographic evidence they have complied with site stabilization requirements in addition to current inspection and other reporting requirements. The due date for comments is July 12, 2021.

Labor Department to Require H-2A Employers in Herding and Livestock Industry to Hire on Temporary Basis

The Department of Labor seeks comments a proposed rule rescinding parts of its regulations in the H-2A visa program. DOL is particularly interested in the impact that compliance costs will have on small entities. Comments due June 7, 2021.
