Black History Month


In recognition of Black History Month, the SBA San Antonio District Office recognizes San Antonio business owner Timothy Porter of Appddiction Studio.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 2.6 million black-owned businesses in the U.S. – businesses like Appddiction Studio, whose owner, Timothy Porter, was named SBA’s 2020 National Small Business Person of the Year.

Timothy started his business in 2011 with help from his local Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) and has since established Appddiction as the go-to small business to support enterprise transformations for Department of Defense clients.

SBA Emerging Leaders Initiative


Are you ready to take your business to the next level?

The SBA San Antonio District Office is now accepting applications for the 2021 Emerging Leaders Initiative. This intensive executive-level series is intended to accelerate the growth of high-potential small businesses and provides business owners with the tools needed to take their business to the next level. 

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Have annual revenues of at least $250,000
  • Have been in business for at least 3 years
  • Have at least one employee, other than self
  • Participant must be a key decision maker within the company such as the CEO, COO, CFO, Owner, or President.

Applications must be received by March 15, 2021. Business owners meeting the eligibility requirements will be contacted for an interview. The start date for this cohort is scheduled for April (date TBD). Classes will be held virtually. The only cost is your time and commitment to complete the curriculum over the course of 7 months.

You may be eligible for a low-interest disaster recovery loan through the SBA for damaged and destroyed assets in a declared disaster. These include repair and replacement costs for real estate, personal property, machinery, equipment, inventory, and business assets.
