NH SBA Welcomes New District Director Amy K. Bassett

CONCORD – The U.S. Small Business Administration is pleased to announce that  Amy K. Bassett was selected to serve as district director of SBA’s New Hampshire district office beginning December 21, 2020.  She succeeds Greta Johansson following her retirement on March 31st after more than 38 years of service with the SBA and 9 years as the state’s director.  Ms. Bassett currently serves as the district director of SBA’s Maine district office since her appointment in January of 2017.

“We are excited to welcome Amy back to her home state of New Hampshire as the SBA New Hampshire District Director.  She has served as the SBA District Director in Maine for nearly four years and prior to that she was a fixture in the SBA New Hampshire office serving in many capacities. Amy has long held leadership positions in New England and has been an important asset to Region 1 and SBA nationally.  Her experience positions her well to lead New Hampshire businesses and the New Hampshire entrepreneurial ecosystem through these challenging times,” stated New England Regional Administrator Wendell Davis.

In her role as district director, Ms. Bassett will be responsible for leading the New Hampshire SBA team in the delivery of SBA’s programs throughout the state.

“It has been a distinct honor and privilege to serve as the SBA district director for Maine, but New Hampshire is home and I look forward to leading a strong team in the delivery of SBA’s programs and services to assist as many small businesses as possible during these unprecedented times,” said Ms. Bassett.  “Having worked with many of the lenders and small business service partners in New Hampshire in the past, I welcome the opportunity to re-establish those relationships and focusing on fostering new partnerships throughout the state.”

Ms. Bassett received her bachelor’s degree in business management from Plymouth State College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She began her career with the SBA in the New Hampshire district office in 1990 and held a variety of positions during her time with that office, including deputy district director and lender relations specialist.  She is a graduate of the Partnership for Public Service’s Excellence in Government Fellows Program and presently is a member of the Plymouth State University Alumni Association. Ms. Bassett is a native of Sandown, New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire district office is located in Concord and is staffed by nine people that work with our lending and resource partners and other economic development partners to deliver the agency’s financial assistance, entrepreneurial development and contracting programs throughout the state.  For more information, please visit sba.gov/nh or follow us on Twitter at @SBA_NH.
