The SBA celebrates, connects, and empowers service member (including National Guard and Reserve), veteran, and military spouse entrepreneurs and business owners – past, present, and future – especially during November and during National Veterans Small Business Week (NVSBW).
There are nearly 2.5 million veteran-owned businesses in the United States. Of this total, more than 442,000 were employers, and 2.08 million were non-employers.
No matter where you are in your entrepreneurial journey or where you are located across the country you can find transition assistance, entrepreneurial training, government contracting opportunities, disaster assistance, and access to capital right in your local neighborhood. And given the COVID-19 pandemic, SBA is providing additional support and guidance for military- and veteran-owned small businesses who are pivoting to meet new demands and working to adapt within this unfamiliar environment.
Now more than ever, it’s vital for military and veteran entrepreneurs to be aware of the local resources that are available to assist them during this difficult time. It’s critical for small businesses to make strong local connections now in order to stay afloat and continue to thrive in the future. The good news is there is an entire community of local resources that you can leverage no matter what hardships your small business may face.
