WOSB Ready


Did you know there have been changes to the certification process for the Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program?  As of October 15th, 2020 WOSBs and Economically Disadvantaged WOSBs will use SBA's free online certification process on

These updates will make it easier for small businesses to participate in the WOSB Federal Contracting Program by improving the customer experience and allowing SBA to strengthen oversight and maintain the integrity of the certification process.

SBA allows participation from firms certified by the US Department of Veterans Affairs Center of Verification and Evaluations, provided they meet all eligibility requirements. SBA also allows continued participation from businesses that utilize Third-Party Certifiers (TPCs) to obtain WOSB or EDWOSB certification.

The prior self-certification option from is no longer available. All firms must now utilize, including uploading TPC-certified documentation for processing.

Business owners can contact their local Small Business Development Center for free assistance with certification and for more information about federal contracting set-asides. Nebraska businesses can contact the Nebraska Business Development Center's Procurement Technical Assistance Center at 402-554-6253.


SBA and Greater Omaha SCORE Partner on New Series!

We are proud to partner with Greater Omaha SCORE to offer the Virtual Marketing Academy, an 11-webinar series for entrepreneurs who want to learn more about Marketing. The first 4 webinars have been a resounding success, with more than 200 registered! November's topics include Google My Business, Guerilla Marketing, Facebook Live and Online Reputation Management. Presenters include social media experts from SCORE and the Rural Enterprise Assistance Project.

REAP Women's Business Center Welcomes a New Director!

It's been a busy year for the REAP Women's Business Center! They welcomed Jessica Campos as the new Women's Business Center Director in early 2020. Jessica moved to Grand Island, Nebraska when she was just 5 years old, and has been passionate about Rural America ever since! Jessica comes from a banking compliance background, and is excited about all the relationships she has built over the past year and the impact the Center has had on rural communities in Nebraska.

The Rural Enterprise Assistance Project Women's Business Center (REAP WBC) utilizes 20+ business consultants to deliver services to the entire state. The REAP WBC also targets rural, geographically underserved populations. “I am often amazed at the outcomes that result when like-minded people join resources and efforts for a common vision, we need a strong vision and commitment to ensure a bright future for all members of rural communities.”

SBA Provided Almost $17M in Guaranteed Financing to Women Owned Small Businesses in FY2020



Fiscal year 2020 was a busy year for women in business! Almost $17M in guaranteed financing went to businesses that were majority owned by women across the state of Nebraska, many of whom are located in rural communities. Many of these loans were for businesses in services industries, including home health care services, funeral services, day care services, personal services and consulting services. Four loans were made for food service establishments, proving that even COVID-19 can't dampen the Nebraska entrepreneurial spirit! Find out more about SBA's guaranteed loan programs here.
