Congratulations Sridhara Gutti, of Essnova Solutions, Alabama's 2020 Small Business Person of the Year

2020 AL SBPOY

Sridhara Gutti, the owner of Essnova Solutions, Inc., based in Birmingham, AL has been named the 2020 Alabama Small Business Person of the Year.

With guidance from his local Small Business Development Center and Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Sridhara Gutti positioned his small business to better compete for government contracts.
Sridhara started Essnova Solutions Inc. out of his Huntsville home, serving as a geo-spatial software consultant. When economic conditions worsened after the Great Recession, he decided to diversify his products and services, branching into governmental technology and professional services. Sridhara wanted his small business to capitalize on local SBA assistance so his team and community could benefit.

One of Sridhara’s biggest obstacles was figuring out the government contracting process. Bidding on and winning public projects can be a daunting process. Sridhara needed expert business advisers who could guide him through the process and help him develop best practices at no additional cost. Read More

SBA and Treasury Announce Simpler PPP Forgiveness for Loans of $50,000 or Less

The U.S. Small Business Administration, in consultation with the Treasury Department, today released a simpler loan forgiveness application for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans of $50,000 or less. This action streamlines the PPP forgiveness process to provide financial and administrative relief to America’s smallest businesses while also ensuring sound stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

“The PPP has provided 5.2 million loans worth $525 billion to American small businesses, providing critical economic relief and supporting more than 51 million jobs,” said Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin.  “Today’s action streamlines the forgiveness process for PPP borrowers with loans of $50,000 or less and thousands of PPP lenders who worked around the clock to process loans quickly,” he continued.  “We are committed to making the PPP forgiveness process as simple as possible while also protecting against fraud and misuse of funds.  We continue to favor additional legislation to further simplify the forgiveness process.”
