Advocacy Files Comment Letter with CFPB

On July 31, Advocacy submitted comments to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau regarding a supplemental proposed rule on Debt Collection (Regulation F). The rule would require debt collectors to make disclosures when collecting certain debts. Advocacy encourages CFPB to consider the impact the rule would have on small entities.

DC Court Enjoins FDA From Enforcing Premarket Review Process on Premium Cigars

On August 19, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia enjoined the Food and Drug Administration from enforcing its premarket review process on premium cigars. Advocacy has worked to limit the impact the premarket review process would have on small businesses.

IRS Proposes Amendments to Small Business Taxpayer Exceptions Under Sections 263A, 448, 460, And 471 Pursuant To TCJA

The Internal Revenue Service published a notice of proposed rulemaking implementing legislative changes from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that simplified small business tax accounting under Sections 263A, 448, 460, and 471. Comments due September 14, 2020.

USDA Seeks Comments on Strengthening Organic Enforcement Within the National Organic Program

The Department of Agriculture’s Agriculture Marketing Service seeks input from small businesses on a proposed rule to strengthen enforcement of production, handling, and sale of organic products. Comments due October 5, 2020.
