Advocacy Submits Letter to APHIS on Implementation of Revised Lacey Act Provisions

On July 1, Advocacy sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), encouraging a delay on enforcement of Phase VI of the import declaration requirements under the Lacey Act in response to the COVID pandemic. Additionally, Advocacy encouraged APHIS to clarify their requirements and eliminate duplicates.

Advocacy Submits Comments on Migratory Bird Permits to Fish and Wildlife Service

On July 20, Advocacy sent a letter to the Department of the Interior’s Fish and Wildlife Service regarding their plan to establish a new permit for the management of double-crested cormorant. Advocacy encourages an alternative which would enact both state and Tribal permits and an aquaculture depredation order.

Using 2017 Federal Reserve survey data, this study evaluates financing patterns and experiences by small business owner race and ethnicity.  Much like previous research, this study finds disparities in credit outcomes persisted for minority-owned businesses, who are more likely to have been denied credit.

On July 15, SBA published a notice on the establishment of a new, temporary Community Advantage loan, designed for small businesses in underserved areas who need assistance due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The loans will be available through September 27, 2020. Comments on the program due August 14, 2020.
