B2B Among Growing List of Free Programs That Assist Veteran Entrepreneurs

Studies show that nearly one in every four veterans is interested in someday starting a business.  Veteran-owned businesses tend to have better longevity and sustainability than non veteran-owned businesses.  Boots to Business is one of a growing number of programs designed to help veteran entrepreneurs thrive.  This Forbes Magazine article highlights 11 of the best: forbes.com/sites/allbusiness/2019/11/09/veterans-entrepreneurs-small-business-support-programs/

Eight Tips for Veterans Who Want to Start Their Own Businesses

Veterans have proven to be among the country’s best entrepreneurs, founding well-known companies like FedEx, Nike, Walmart, and Waffle House.  More than 2.5 million U.S. businesses are majority-owned by veterans.  If you’re looking to join them, it may not be obvious how to get your small business started, but help is available.  Military Times polled federal agencies, veterans support groups and private companies to get their advice for aspiring veteran entrepreneurs.  Here are some tips to increase the likelihood of success: militarytimes.com/education-transition/2019/11/13/eight-tips-for-vets-who-want-to-start-their-own-businesses/

What Comes AFTER Boots to Business?

After completing the in-person B2B class, participants can continue their studies online via the B2B Revenue Readiness course (sbavets.force.com/s/rr-msu-course-information)  offered at no cost to B2B and B2B Reboot participants through our partners at Mississippi State University.

B2B and Reboot participants are also encouraged to take advantage of the many resources and services offered by the SBA and our partner network, including Veterans Business Outreach Centers, SCORE, Small Business and Technology Development Centers, and Women’s Business Centers.

Your Local Boots to Business Team

Along with their B2B mission, VBOCs serve as one-stop-shops for veterans and military spouses looking to start, purchase, or grow a business.  In NC, the VBOC is located at Fayetteville State University.

  • Support the issuance of standby letters of credit.

The SBA has a national network of Export Finance Managers that would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about new, global opportunities.  If you’d like to learn more, or are interested in setting up an appointment with your local SBA Export Finance Manager, please answer three questions and provide your contact information.  We will reach out to you soon.
