Investing in Nevada

Working with

SBA Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs)

The Nevada Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration will hold a workshop for Banking and Investor professionals on the use and development of Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs) in Nevada. This event is designed to educate the banking investment community on opportunities available through licensed SBICs to assist small businesses with investment/equity capital.

The program will feature an interactive panel consisting of SBIC managers, bank investors and regulators, as well as small businesses receiving financing from an SBIC and will provide an overview of the following benefits and opportunities to banks:

  • Investing in licensed SBICs.
  • Qualifying investments under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).
  • Reporting documentation related to bank examinations and how investment fund managers may facilitate CRA compliance for bank investments in SBICs.

Outcomes from investing in SBICs may include:

  • Flexible investing terms, increased financial scale, and potentially enhanced returns with low cost capital.
  • Favorable CRA consideration from banking regulators.
  • Exemption from the Volcker Rule that restricts bank investments into private equity firms.
  • Unique positioning for offering banking products and services to portfolio companies of SBICs
