SBA Offers Boots to Business Entrepreneurship Training November 7th in Cedar Rapids

Registration Now Open to Both Veterans and Non-Veterans

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is hosting an entrepreneurship training session for veterans, National Guard members, Reservists and their spouses on Thursday, November 7, 2019 in Cedar Rapids. In addition, registration is now open to Non-Veterans who would like to attend this workshop to learn more about starting a small business.

Boots to Business: Reboot is a free training session that introduces veterans to the fundamentals of business ownership and the key steps for evaluating business concepts, developing a business plan, connecting with local resources and launching their small business. There will be a special emphasis on franchising during the November 7th session, which is why Non-Veterans are also being given the opportunity to participate.

The training is hosted by the SBA Iowa District Office and the Veterans Business Resource Center with the cooperation of the University of Dubuque. It features additional presentations by SBA resource partners, including SCORE, America’s SBDC - Iowa (the Small Business Development Centers), and small business owners. Blake Martin, FranNet of the Heartland, will also present information on franchising.

This session will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the University of Dubuque, 296 Blairs Ferry Road NE, Room 109, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402.

The training session is FREE. Lunch will be provided courtesy of the Veterans Business Resource Center.

The first session is followed up with an eight-week Foundations of Entrepreneurship online training (may be self-paced) course presented by a consortium of professors and skilled business advisors from the SBA network, Syracuse University and Mississippi State University.
