SBA Awards Nearly $400,000 to Wisconsin Organizations to Assist Emerging Entrepreneurs

To help small businesses start, grow, expand, and recover from disaster, SBA works closely with partners throughout Wisconsin and across the country.  Last month, two SBA micro-lenders, the Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corporation, which operates statewide, and ADVOCAP, based in Fond du Lac, received more than $300,000 through the SBA's Program for Investment in Micro-entrepreneurs (PRIME) to work with emerging small businesses.

Madison-based startup accelerator  Gener8to, one of the largest such programs in the country, received its first SBA award, a $50,000 Growth Accelerator grant, to support its training budget. The program awarded $3 million in funding across 39 states.   Read more>  

Other funding news: $674,000 in state matching grants advance 8 high-tech small businesses

MARKETPLACE Wisconsin, the Governor’s Conference on Diverse Business Development is next week! This is a one-stop shop for networking, learning and meetings that result in new business for minority-owned, woman-owned, veteran-owned and LGBTQ-owned companies as well as buyers and service providers that want to connect with them.

Registration is closing soon! SBA will be available to work with small businesses throughout the Contracting Academy on October 23rd and one-on-one buyer meetings on the 24th.
