This class discusses the multiple sources of capital for starting and growing a small business. The pros and cons of the funding sources are reviewed. Topics to be discussed include familiar options such as self-financing, funding from friends & family, and partnerships. Other sources are reviewed such as: • Small Business Loans • SBA Loan Guaranty Program • Microloans Some less conventional financing sources along with their pros and cons are also discussed, including selling equity (shares), venture capital, angel investors, and crowd funding. Drive 8a

The SBA South Florida District will host a series of Drive 8(a) events to help entrepreneurs understand how to sell their goods and services to the federal government. Each year the federal government's goal is to award at least five percent of all federal contracting dollars to small disadvantaged businesses.

If accepted into the SBA's 8(a) program, these social and economically disadvantaged businesses will receive nine years of business development assistance and will also be able to compete for federal contracting dollars.

Drive 8a Recruitment - Cocoa event will help new applicants with understanding the SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program. Experts from the Small Business Administration and recognized resource partners will be in attendance.
