Weiland, Inc is Named the 2019 SBA Nebraska Small Business Of The Year

Weiland Family

In the beginning, Weiland, Inc. owners Leon and Jean Weiland didn't set out to run a large family business. They just wanted a way to supplement the income from their family farm in 1984 during a frigid Nebraska winter that came on the heels of a regional agricultural crisis. Their manufacturing company started out making industrial fiberglass doors for the meat packing industry in a small 800 sq foot building on the family farm.

Twenty-five years and many additional products later, the family used an SBA loan to relocate to a brand new 60,000 sq foot facility in Norfolk, NE. Weiland, Inc now makes industrial doors and windows, and has developed proprietary techniques to mold doors faster, cheaper and more environmentally safe than their competitors. They also set the industry standard for stainless steel windows.

Family members Carl Weiland, Jason Ash and Rob Haake took the reins in 2009, and have tripled the company's revenue, hired an additional 14 employees and added new product lines. They utilized SBA resource partner the Nebraska Business Development Center in Norfolk for free assistance. NBDC Director Loren Kucera nominated them for the SBA Nebraska District Office 2019 Small Business of The Year, which they won thanks to their innovation, business expansion and dedication to the community.
