As the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) kicks off its National Small Business Week (NSBW) on May 5th in Washington, D.C., small business owners and entrepreneurs around the country will be celebrating with local and regional events, including here in the National Capital Region.

The Washington Metropolitan Area District Office (WMADO) of the SBA will honor local small business owners and the organizations that support them at its 2019 Small Business Awards Ceremony on May 8 at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland. This sold-out event will attract over 150 attendees, including entrepreneurs, lending partners, and other special guests from the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, and Suburban Maryland.

“This year’s celebration holds special significance, as we look forward to recognizing the impressive achievements of our honorees across 12 award categories,” said WMADO District Director Antonio Doss. He added, “Our winners represent those individuals and organizations that have made some of the most significant contributions to our region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. We at the SBA are thrilled to have had a hand in their success.”

On Tuesday, May 7, from 8:00am to 12:30pm, District Director Antonio Doss welcomes attendees to the Reston Chamber B2G Matchmaking Conference & Small Business Expo in Fairfax, VA. Also on Tuesday, May 7, from 8:00am to 2:00pm, District Director Antonio Doss moderates a panel on how to sustain, grow and prosper one's business at the 4th Annual PowerUP DC in Washington, DC. For registration information, click here.

On Wednesday, May 8, from 7:30am to 1:00pm, District Director Antonio Doss provides the opening address at Build It With #FairfaxEDA, a half-day workshop in Tysons, VA hosted by the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. The event features small business development experts dedicated to helping entrepreneurs build and grow their operations. To register, click here

On Friday, May 10, from 8:00am to 2:00pm, Business Opportunity Specialists Bernadine Johnson and Shanetta Kemple present a workshop on procuring business with the Federal government at the DC Chamber of Commerce's Annual Small Business & Economic Development Summit in Washington, DC. Economic Development Specialist Nick Rajpara helps staff an SBA information booth at the event.
