The U.S. Small Business Administration helps Americans start, build, and grow businesses.

The SBA was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation.

What We Do:

  • Access to Capital
    • The SBA provides an array of financing for small businesses from the smallest needs in micro lending to substantial debt and equity investment capital.
  • Entrepreneurial Development
    • The SBA provides free counseling and low-cost training to new entrepreneurs and established small businesses in over 1,800 locations.
  • Government Contracting
    • The SBA sets goals with other federal departments and agencies to award 23 percent in prime contract dollars to small businesses.

Overview on Creating a Business Plan on May 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. PDT   - Registration Required

A good business plan guides you through each stage of starting and managing your business. You’ll use your business plan as a road map for how to structure, run, and grow your new business. It’s a way to think through the key elements of your business.

Business plans can help you get funding or bring on new business partners. Investors want to feel confident they’ll see a return on their investment. Your business plan is the tool you’ll use to convince people that working with you — or investing in your company — is a smart choice.
