SBA Names Eastern Pennsylvania 2019 National Small Business Week Award Winners

EASTERN Pa. – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Eastern Pennsylvania District Office announces its 2019 Small Business Week Award Winners, and will visit and present awards to its winners during May in recognition of the National Small Business Week.

The SBA’s Eastern Pennsylvania Small Business Awards winners are selected annually from among nominees located across Pennsylvania’s eastern 40 counties. These events are local observances of the annual Presidentially-designated National Small Business Week, which recognizes the small business community’s contribution to the American economy.

“Each year, the SBA’s National Small Business Week awards recognize the achievements of small businesses and the organizations that assist them in eastern Pennsylvania,” said SBA Acting Eastern Pennsylvania District Director John Fleming. “It’s an honor to present these awards. Each business is exceptional and deserving of recognition because they represent the very best of the eastern Pennsylvania small business community.”

Eastern Pennsylvania District Small Business Week Award winners:

  • Eastern Pennsylvania District Small Business Person of the Year: Robert H. Roy, President, Royal Truck & Equipment, Inc., Coopersburg, PA
  • Pennsylvania Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award: Widener University Small Business Development Center, Lenin P. Agudo, Director; nominated by Dr. Ernie Post, State Director, Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers Network.
  • Eastern Pennsylvania Entrepreneurial Success of the Year Award: Green Lawn Fertilizing Green Pest Solutions, West Chester, PA, President and Owner Matthew Benjamin Jesson; nominated by Sherwood Robbins, Seedcopa Managing Director.
  • Eastern Pennsylvania District Family-Owned Small Business of the Year: American Wood Design, Inc., Chester, PA; President Michael Gilhool, Sr.; Vice President Michael Gilhool, Jr.; Office Administrator Jo Ann Gilhool; Project Engineer James Gilhool; nominated by Widener University Small Business Development Center, Lenin P. Every year since 1963 SBA takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from across the nation through National Small Business Week. This year’s National Small Business Week will be held during the week of May 5 to May 11 in Washington, D.C. During National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration recognizes and awards outstanding small business owners from around the country. Additionally, recognition and educational events throughout SBA’s 10 Regions and 68 Districts will be held throughout the week.
