4 Ways H.R. 5050 Continues to Support Women Small Business Owners

This month the SBA celebrates National Women's Small Business Month and the 30th anniversary of the passage of the Women's Business Ownership Act (H.R. 5050).

H.R. 5050 had several key impacts including the following:

  1. Mandated that a woman can apply for a business loan without a male co-signer
  2. Established the SBA Office of Women’s Business Ownership (OWBO)
  3. Created the SBA Women’s Business Center (WBC) program
  4. Launched the National Women’s Business Council (NWBC)
