SBA to Present Awards to Eleven Honorees  

Celebrate Small Business Week 2018!

Happy National Small Business Week, April 29 to May 5

HARTFORD, CT – April M. Lukasik, President and CEO of Bright and Early Children's Learning Centers of No. Branford, CT is the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2018 Connecticut Small Business Person of the Year, SBA’s top award, according to an announcement made by Anne Hunt, Connecticut’s SBA District Director.

“We are extremely excited to honor a truly amazing line up of eleven small business owners and champions this year, said Anne Hunt, SBA’s Connecticut District Director.  It is important to recognize these outstanding small businesses in the state as they are the job creators, innovators and the fabric of our local communities!”

  • Dennis C. Nash,  Small Business Exporter of the Year (Control Station / Manchester)

  • Charles A. Buck Jr., Region 1 & Connecticut Family-Owned Business of the Year (Buck's Spumoni Company / Milford)  
  • Mary Lynn Ortiz, Minority-Owned Business of the Year (Borinquen Bakery / New Britain)
  • Aaron M. Bohigian, Financial Services Champion of the Year (Webster Bank)
  • Alyssa M. DeMatteo, Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Wildflour Confections / Seymour) 
  • Brian Weinstein, Region 1 & Connecticut Manufacturer of the Year (Chapco Inc., / Chester)
  • Linda R. Longobardi, Home-Based Business of the Year (Regift the Wrap / Glastonbury)
  • Nicholas W. Wright, Veteran-Owned Business of the Year (Unlimited RV / Prospect) 


All the award winners will be recognized today at the Connecticut Small Business Week Awards Celebration scheduled for 12pm at Anthony's Ocean View in New Haven, CT.
