Meet New Regional Administrator Wendell Davis

Wendell G. Davis was appointed to serve as as the regional administrator for Region I of the U.S. Small Business Administration on January 8, 2018. He oversees the delivery of the agency’s financial assistance, technical assistance and government contracting activities throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island.

Prior to his work with the SBA, Mr. Davis was managing partner at DCB Law Group, LLC where he established the firm’s Commercial Transactions Practice Group. 

Mr. Davis has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Central Connecticut State University and is a past president of the University’s alumni association. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School and comes to the SBA with 15 years’ experience as small business owner.  Mr. Davis lives in Amston, Connecticut with his wife Sarah and three sons.

    The 7(a) Loan Program, SBA’s most common loan program, includes financial help for businesses with special requirements. >Learn More. So far in Fiscal Year 2018 (October 1, 2017 - January 31, 2018), 158 lending institutions approved 1507 loans for $286,163,062 across New England. The top 5 7(a) lenders for this time period by number of loans are:

    Eastern Bank - 254 loans for $17,393,700

    TD Bank - 249 loans for $16,044,100

    Citizens Bank - 98 loans for $13,090,100

    Independence Bank - 83 loans for $4,725,000

    Berkshire Bank - 44 loans for $8,408,500

    504 Program

    This loan program provides financing for major fixed assets such as equipment or real estate. >Learn More. For the same time period the Certified Development Companies approved 165 loans for $86,894,000. The top 5 504 lenders are:

    Granite State Economic Development Corp - 56 loans for $23,772,000
