SAMHSA Releases New Quality Measurement Tools for Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment

SAMHSA has released a resource manual, technical specifications, and data-reporting templates to help states and behavioral health clinics better assess and document their performance and effectiveness in providing treatment to people with mental and/or substance use disorders. These materials were developed in partnership with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.


State Estimates of Past-Year Serious Thoughts of Suicide Among Young Adults: 2013 and 2014

Past-year serious thoughts of suicide among young adults ranged from 6.2 percent in Texas to 10.3 percent in New Hampshire.


A Practitioner's Resource Guide: Helping Families To Support Their LGBT Children

This publication offers information and resources to help practitioners throughout health and social service systems implement best practices in engaging and helping families and caregivers to support their lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) children.

LGBT Populations: A Dialogue on Advancing Opportunities for Recovery From Addictions and Mental Health Problems

This publication recaps a meeting to identify factors that promote or hinder recovery from mental illness or substance abuse for lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) individuals and to gain an understanding of their perspectives and experiences in advancing recovery.

Ending Conversion Therapy: Supporting and Affirming LGBTQ Youth

This publication presents research, clinical expertise, and expert consensus on therapeutic practices related to children's and adolescents' sexual orientation and gender identity, and makes the case for eliminating the use of conversion therapy among this population.
