The U.S. Postal Service offers Change of Address (COA) service so residential and business customers can have mail forwarded to a new address. In fiscal year 2017 alone, USPS processed almost 37 million COA requests. The Postal Service has a variety of controls in place to help prevent identity theft when using the COA service and to protect the mail and customers’ privacy.
